This was made for today’s sketch challenge to do a “kickstand” card-I love this idea!

I decided to do a dimensional nest since I wanted to add some weight to the bottom of the kickstand. I started by punching a scallop using my SU! punch out of Close to Cocoa paper. I cut out a 2nd scallop for the “sticks” so they would be about the same size as the nest across. I took 1 punch and cut it in half and adhered it together shifted over a bit so it was more oval (or nest) shaped.

I used the extra scallop to cut into strips for the twigs. I put lines of  Crystal Effects over the nest so the strips would stick easily and layered them over.

I took the entire piece and put it face down on So Saffron Craft, and then Close to Cocoa craft so it would have some depth of color and look more natural. Then I sprinkled clear embossing powder over the front and embossed-the embossing will help hold the nest together and it added some shine!

I cut the birdies out and popped them in the nest-they were both cut out of So Saffron and the bigger daubered in Celery and the smaller daubered around in Real Red.

I realized I did not have any heart stamps that were the right size, so I folded a post-it note in 1/2 and cut out a heart from the center like in elementary school! I used this as a mask and sponged in real red ink to create the hearts. I used the mask as a template and cut out a heart in real red and embossed it in Irridescent Ice EP for the heart closest to the birdies.

I wanted to keep all of the focus on the nest/birds, so I layered whisper white over celery designer paper, and used the berry branch from Peaceful Wishes along the edges so there would be some color  but not overpowering. Added  some real red ribbon and was all set!
